N’Golo Kante to Arsenal? Emmanuel Petit Thinks He’d Be a Game-Changer!

Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit has urged Mikel Arteta to consider signing N’Golo Kante in the upcoming January transfer window, believing the Frenchman could be a transformative addition to the Gunners.

Kante, now 33, currently plies his trade with Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, having departed Chelsea at the end of his contract in 2023.

Despite his move to Saudi Arabia, Kante showcased his enduring class during Euro 2024, where he was a standout performer for France.

Petit sees Kante as an asset who still possesses the quality and mentality to contribute at the highest level. “N’Golo Kante still has what it takes to play at the highest level,” Petit told Casino Hawks.

“I have huge respect for him as a player. He may not play as frequently, but his personality, character, and commitment can be incredibly valuable to a club.”

Petit added that Kante’s work ethic and team-first mentality would make him an ideal fit for Arteta’s rotational setup at Arsenal. “In terms of mentality, he would give 100 percent for his teammates. He brings something special,” Petit emphasized.

Kante, known for his instrumental roles in Leicester City’s and Chelsea’s Premier League triumphs, as well as France’s 2018 World Cup victory, has reportedly left the door open for a return to European football.

Such a move could align perfectly with Arsenal’s midfield needs as they seek experienced reinforcements for the second half of the season.

While praising Kante, Petit also had strong words for Raheem Sterling, who joined Arsenal on loan from Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

Petit expressed disappointment with Sterling’s lackluster performances, calling him “one of the most disappointing signings of the summer.”

“The environment might not have been good for him at Chelsea, but that’s no excuse,” Petit said. “Ever since leaving Manchester City, he hasn’t been good enough.

My explanation is that he has so much money that he’s lost his hunger. Without ambition and targets, you can’t improve as a footballer or a human being.”

Sterling’s struggles at Arsenal have raised questions about his ability to recapture the form that once made him a star at Manchester City.

As the January window approaches, Kante’s potential move to Arsenal remains speculative but intriguing. His proven track record, coupled with Petit’s endorsement, suggests that he could inject valuable experience and leadership into Arteta’s squad. However, whether Arsenal will make the move for the French midfield maestro remains to be seen.
