The prestigious event, held in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday evening, celebrated Africa’s finest in football, with Nigeria emerging as a standout nation.

The glitzy ceremony highlighted Nigeria’s growing prominence in African football, with the country taking home multiple team and individual honors.

NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko described the awards as a reflection of Nigeria’s hard work and progress in sports.

“These achievements are a testament to the efforts of many people during this exciting period of growth and rejuvenation for Nigerian sports. They motivate us to aim even higher,” Dikko stated.

Ademola Lookman claimed the coveted CAF Player of the Year award, following in the footsteps of Victor Osimhen, who won in 2023.

Lookman’s remarkable year included leading the Super Eagles to the 2023 AFCON final and winning the Europa League with Atalanta.

In the final against Bayer Leverkusen, Lookman’s unforgettable hattrick secured Atalanta’s historic triumph.

Chiamaka Nnadozie, the Super Falcons’ goalkeeper, won the Goalkeeper of the Year award for the second consecutive time.

Her outstanding performances in 2024 included 28 appearances and 10 clean sheets, cementing her place among the best in women’s football.

The Super Falcons were also named the Women’s National Team of the Year, further asserting their dominance in African women’s football.

Additionally, Nigerian stars shone in the CAF Best XI: Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman made the Men’s lineup, while Rasheedat Ajibade, Asisat Oshoala, Osinachi Ohale, and Michelle Alozie earned spots in the Women’s Best XI.

It was truly a night to remember, showcasing Nigeria’s exceptional talent and cementing the nation’s status as a powerhouse in African football.
