Two Nigerian stars, Ademola Lookman and Raphael Onyedika, are set to face off in the UEFA Champions League play-off round after their teams, Atalanta and Club Brugge, were drawn against each other.
The draw, conducted at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, has set up a thrilling encounter between the Italian and Belgian sides.
Atalanta secured their place in the play-offs following a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Barcelona at the Nou Camp. However, Lookman was unavailable for that match due to a knee injury.
Meanwhile, Belgian Pro League champions Club Brugge advanced despite a 3-1 loss to Manchester City, with Onyedika scoring his team’s only goal of the game.
The first legs of the play-off round are scheduled for February 11-12, with the return legs taking place a week later.
The eight winners from this stage will progress to the last 16, where they will face the top-performing teams from the league phase as the tournament heads into its decisive knockout rounds.
