Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo announced that Super Eagles players Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina have recovered from their ordeal in Libya. Aina performed well in Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Libya, while Awoniyi came off the bench but couldn’t make an impact.
Following their victory, the Super Eagles faced travel issues, with their flight redirected to an airport 150 miles from their intended destination, leaving them stranded for over 14 hours without food or internet.
However, Aina, Awoniyi, and their teammates have returned safely to their clubs, and their coach confirmed they are in good condition. “They arrived; they are working normal. It was a mess, but it was important to get them back as soon as possible,” he said.
The duo will have time to prepare for their next match against Crystal Palace on Monday night.
