Alejandro Garnacho impressed on the right wing during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal, earning praise from former United star Owen Hargreaves. The young Argentine has primarily played on the left this season but was a standout performer when deployed on the right at Old Trafford.
Hargreaves believes Garnacho’s game benefits from playing on the right because it forces him to pass more rather than cutting inside to shoot. This season, he has made 15 appearances as a left winger, scoring six goals and assisting three times. In contrast, he has played seven times on the right, contributing one goal and two assists.
There have been rumors that United could sell Garnacho in the summer to comply with financial regulations. Chelsea were linked with a move in January, but Jeff Stelling argued that the London club already has enough wingers and does not need another.

Hargreaves strongly opposes the idea of selling Garnacho and instead believes United should build their team around him and fellow youngster Kobbie Mainoo. He sees both players as key to the club’s future and wants them to be given opportunities to develop rather than being sacrificed for financial gain.
United’s performance against Arsenal highlighted Garnacho’s importance, with the Argentine and Bruno Fernandes being the driving forces in attack. Hargreaves described him as a “shining light” in an otherwise difficult game for the Red Devils.
New manager Ruben Amorim will need to decide how best to utilize Garnacho moving forward. His ability to play on both wings gives United tactical flexibility, and he could be an integral part of the squad in the coming years.

Despite United’s inconsistent season, Garnacho’s performances have been one of the bright spots. His pace, energy, and attacking intent make him a dangerous player, and Hargreaves believes he has the potential to become a key figure at the club.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Garnacho’s future will likely be a topic of discussion. However, if United want to build a strong squad, keeping him and developing his talents should be a top priority.
