Manchester United’s ongoing striker woes have come under fire again, with former defender Paul Parker delivering a brutal assessment of Rasmus Hojlund’s form.
Parker believes the young striker is regressing, lacking confidence, and failing to justify his place in the starting lineup.

Signed by Erik ten Hag 18 months ago, Hojlund initially showed glimpses of promise after a slow start to life in the Premier League.
However, his second season has been a major letdown. With just two league goals so far, the 22-year-old’s place is now under serious threat.
Speaking to Instant Casino, Parker didn’t hold back:
“I think it’s the worst it’s ever been – he just looks afraid to make mistakes and isn’t playing with any belief in his own ability.”
He added that Hojlund appears hesitant even in basic decision-making:
“He looks scared to touch the ball now because he’s worried about which way it’s going to go.”
With manager Ruben Amorim opting to start academy midfielder Kobbie Mainoo up front against Crystal Palace and favoring Joshua Zirkzee in recent matches, it’s clear that Hojlund’s role is under scrutiny.

Manchester United were expected to reinforce their attack in January but failed to land their top targets, including Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, who instead joined Tottenham on loan. Parker was left unimpressed by the club’s lack of ambition:
“I was expecting at least two players through the door… The squad needed some players with energy and pace, but they only got Patrick Dorgu in the end.”
Tel’s immediate impact at Spurs, scoring against Aston Villa, only highlights what United are missing:
“He had some good movement, brought some energy, and scored a good goal – exactly what United need in their attacking positions right now.”

With Amorim seemingly losing faith in Hojlund, and the club failing to secure a new forward in January, United may have to rely on internal solutions for the remainder of the season. Whether Hojlund can turn things around or if United will have to make a major summer signing remains to be seen.
