Phil Foden missed Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace after failing to recover from an ankle injury sustained during last weekend’s Manchester derby.
The 24-year-old was spotted limping down the tunnel at Old Trafford, and City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed before Saturday’s match:
“He had an injury at Old Trafford and he didn’t recover well.”
City were also without Erling Haaland, Rodri, Manuel Akanji, John Stones, and Nathan Ake, adding to a growing injury list.
James McAtee made his first Premier League start, while Rico Lewis started at right-back and Nico Gonzalez replaced Bernardo Silva in midfield.
Before kick-off, City sat 6th in the Premier League, with a win potentially moving them into the top four. Crystal Palace, 11th, were eyeing a leap into the top 10 with an upset at the Etihad.
