Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has called on Marcus Rashford to demonstrate greater respect towards the club’s supporters after the forward faced criticism for his post-match actions during the 2-0 defeat to Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Rashford, who entered the game as a second-half substitute, came under scrutiny when footage revealed him walking back to the tunnel while his teammates remained on the pitch applauding the travelling fans. Goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba had secured the win for Arsenal at the Emirates, leaving United supporters disappointed.
Speaking about Rashford’s actions, Amorim was clear in his stance. “Of course, we have to do it, especially when we lose. Not just when we win, but when we lose,” said Amorim on Friday. “We’re going to do that, and everybody has to do it. It’s going to be like that.”
Amorim also refrained from singling out Rashford for recent inconsistent performances, choosing instead to address the collective efforts of the squad. “I prefer to focus on the whole squad,” the manager said. “We have a lot to improve—not just Marcus. The entire team can improve in every aspect of the game.”
The manager emphasized the need for a stronger work ethic across the board. “The way we sprint back and sprint forward, the way we fight—it’s something we have to be very clear about with the team. This is the first point we need to address. The technical and tactical aspects will follow later,” Amorim added.
Rashford, a fan favorite and often a standout player, has faced mounting pressure to rediscover his form amidst United’s struggles this season. Amorim’s comments underline a broader demand for accountability and unity as the team aims to bounce back from their recent setbacks.
