Real Madrid Desperate to Sign Arsenal Star But Face Massive Roadblock

Real Madrid have made Arsenal’s William Saliba their “absolute priority” signing this summer, but the Gunners are standing firm, demanding a record-breaking fee for their star defender.

Saliba, 23, has been a cornerstone of Arsenal’s defense, helping the club maintain the best defensive record in the Premier League last season.

His rise to becoming one of the world’s best defenders comes after three loan spells following his £27 million move to Arsenal. Now a regular for France with 26 caps, his performances have caught the eye of Real Madrid.

Reports suggest Arsenal consider Saliba “the best centre-back in the world” and will only entertain offers surpassing the £80 million record fees paid for Josko Gvardiol and Harry Maguire.

However, Saliba’s recent struggles against Alexander Isak in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup exit raised questions about his ability to dominate in every game.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe revealed his team deliberately targeted Saliba and Gabriel in that match, while former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara admitted he had never seen Arsenal’s defense so unsettled.

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Ian Wright warned that Saliba and other top stars like Bukayo Saka could consider leaving if the club fails to win silverware soon. With the clock ticking on their contracts, Arsenal’s title challenge this season may be crucial to keeping their best players.

Arsenal, currently regrouping after their FA Cup exit, will return to Premier League action on February 15 against Leicester City.
