Dalot: A Key Figure at Old Trafford
The 25-year-old has been a mainstay at Manchester United since joining from Porto in June 2018.
Over seven seasons, Dalot has made 178 appearances in all competitions, contributing to United’s FA Cup and Carabao Cup triumphs.
Despite a loan spell with AC Milan during the 2020/21 season, Dalot has grown into a vital player for the Red Devils.
He has started every Premier League game this season under Ruben Amorim and was named the club’s Players’ Player of the Year last term.
Madrid’s Interest Heats Up
Reports from Spain, particularly from the Madrid-based outlet Relevo, indicate that Real Madrid views Dalot as a viable alternative to Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold.
With Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation uncertain, Madrid is exploring other options to strengthen their full-back position.
United, however, values Dalot highly and is unwilling to entertain offers below €50m (£41.5m). Given that the club signed him for €22m (£18m) as a teenager, they are adamant about doubling their investment in any potential deal.
A Key Role Under Ruben Amorim
United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, has emphasized Dalot’s importance to the team. Speaking before United’s 4-0 win over Everton, Amorim praised Dalot’s versatility and influence.
“He’s very powerful,” Amorim remarked. “We rotate him occasionally because he seems always fresh, but he’s not a machine. I think he plays better on the right, but he can adapt to different positions.”
Amorim highlighted Dalot’s team-oriented approach and his ability to excel in any role assigned. “He’s not just a great player; he’s a team player. The way he lives every game is crucial to us.”
Madrid’s Alternatives and Challenges
Real Madrid reportedly initiated contact with Dalot’s representatives during Erik ten Hag’s tenure at Old Trafford.
While Alexander-Arnold remains their top target, Dalot’s adaptability and reliability make him a strong contender.
United’s reluctance to part with the Portuguese international poses a significant hurdle, but Madrid’s determination signals a potential blockbuster move in the upcoming transfer window.
Will Dalot trade Manchester for Madrid? The coming months will reveal whether the La Liga giants can meet United’s demands and secure the defender’s services.
