Rio Ferdinand has expressed serious concerns over Manchester United’s alarming form, even suggesting that relegation is not out of the question for the struggling Premier League giants.
A 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday left United sitting 15th in the table, just 12 points above the drop zone. Hopes were high that new manager Ruben Amorim would revive the team after Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, but performances have only worsened.

Ferdinand, a six-time Premier League winner with United, went through the club’s upcoming fixtures on his YouTube channel and admitted he could only see one potential win.
“United are absolutely struggling right now,” he said. “Only Wolves and West Ham separate us from the relegation places. Do you realize how close we are?”
Going through United’s fixture list, he added, “The only place I see us potentially getting something and I’m not even saying a win is Leicester. We’ve beaten them a couple of times already, so maybe we have their number.”
For years, United fans could look at their schedule and pick out likely wins. Now, Ferdinand admits, “I’m not seeing outright wins. That’s the problem.”
United’s struggles continued against Tottenham, where a depleted squad fell to an uninspiring 1-0 loss. Manager Amorim acknowledged the scale of the challenge ahead.
“I have a lot of problems,” he admitted. “My job is so hard, but I’m here to continue with my beliefs and try to win again.”
United legend Gary Neville also slammed the team’s lackluster performances. “This is a really poor United team,” he said. “Amorim’s press conferences have been the best thing about them so far.”
Jamie Redknapp echoed similar concerns, warning that the squad lacks top-quality players. “Manchester United is such a massive club, and fans don’t want to hear that they need time and patience,” he said. “But right now, it’s difficult to watch.”
With United’s form spiraling and a tough run of fixtures ahead, can Amorim turn things around before the unthinkable becomes a reality?
