Chelsea’s Romeo Lavia has highlighted three young prospects at the club who he believes could become future stars. Despite being just 21 himself, Lavia has kept a close eye on the club’s youth setup and singled out Tyrique George, Josh Acheampong, and Shim Mheuka as players to watch.
Lavia, who joined Chelsea in a £53 million move from Southampton in 2023, has endured a frustrating time due to injuries, limiting him to just 12 appearances under Enzo Maresca.
However, he remains highly regarded, recently earning a spot on the EA SPORTS FC 25 Future Stars list alongside Lamine Yamal, Benjamin Sesko, Leny Yoro, and Endrick.
In an interview with Rising Ballers, Lavia was asked which Chelsea youngsters could one day receive similar recognition.

“Let me think… I’d say Tyrique George, Josh Acheampong—maybe people don’t know him yet—and Shim Mheuka, a really good striker,” Lavia said. “I’m confident in their abilities.”
Beyond his ambitions on the pitch, Lavia spoke about his desire to give back to the footballing community.
“As footballers, we can do a lot more,” he said. “Fans support us no matter the conditions, and I want to give that love back as much as I can.”
On his career goals, Lavia made it clear he’s aiming for the very top.
“I want to win everything—every title that’s possible,” he stated.
Reflecting on his toughest opponent, Lavia pointed to Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne rather than Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I trained with De Bruyne at City for a year, thinking I understood his game,” Lavia explained. “Then I played against him at Southampton and realized I didn’t know him at all! He was the toughest I’ve faced.”
As for his footballing inspirations, Lavia admitted that his early heroes were Ronaldinho and Neymar before shifting focus to players in his position, such as Sergio Busquets, N’Golo Kante, and Fernandinho.
While Lavia continues his recovery, Chelsea fans will be eager to see him fulfill his potential—just as he hopes the next generation of Blues talents will.
