Ruben Amorim has addressed Marcus Rashford’s recent comments about seeking “a new challenge,” saying he hasn’t yet spoken directly with the forward about his future but remains committed to helping him rediscover his form at Manchester United.

Rashford, who was instrumental in Amorim’s first game in charge with a goal against Ipswich Town, has since struggled for consistent game time.
The 27-year-old has started only two of United’s last six matches across all competitions and was notably absent from the squad for Sunday’s Manchester derby, where the Red Devils secured a thrilling 2-1 victory over Manchester City.
Amorim’s Focus on Rashford’s Present Role
Despite Rashford’s frustration, Amorim emphasized his importance to the team during a press conference ahead of United’s Carabao Cup clash with Tottenham.
“This kind of club needs big talent, and Marcus is a big talent,” Amorim said. “He just needs to perform at the highest level. My focus is on helping him and all the players to give their best.”
Rashford’s recent dip in form has been stark compared to his prolific 30-goal campaign just two seasons ago. Since then, he has managed only 15 goals in 18 months, a statistic that has fueled speculation about his future.
However, Amorim expressed his belief that Rashford remains a crucial player for United, stating, “We are better with Marcus Rashford, that’s simple. We will do everything to push him back to his best level.”
A New Challenge Ahead
When asked about Rashford’s remarks hinting at a potential departure, Amorim reframed the narrative, describing Manchester United’s current state as its own significant challenge.
“This is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and right now, it’s a new challenge for all of us,” Amorim said. “I hope every player, including Marcus, is ready to face it.”
Amorim hinted at the possibility of Rashford returning to the squad for Thursday’s game but made it clear that final decisions would depend on the player’s performance in training. “We’ll see after training,” Amorim added. “I expect the best from everyone every day.”
As Manchester United navigates a challenging season, Amorim’s priority remains clear: bringing out the best in his players, including Marcus Rashford, to help the team regain its footing.
