Ruben Amorim has admitted that Manchester United must sell players before making any major signings in the summer transfer window.
The club explored potential sales in January, with Alejandro Garnacho attracting interest from Napoli and Chelsea, while Kobbie Mainoo was also on Chelsea’s radar. Reports suggested United would have considered an £80 million bid for the 19-year-old midfielder.

Despite financial constraints, United secured a £29.2 million deal for Patrick Dorgu from Lecce last month. However, Amorim has now warned fans that additional departures will be necessary before the squad can be strengthened further.
“To do something, we need to sell players,” Amorim stated. “The window is closed now, so we need to focus on the games we have. In the summer, we will see.”

The Portuguese coach also addressed reports of further job cuts at Old Trafford, with claims that 100 more staff redundancies could be on the horizon.
“Our biggest problem now is Tottenham, and we understand the club’s situation,” Amorim said. “We knew about financial fair play rules, but that won’t change how I prepare the team.”
United currently sit 13th in the Premier League, just two points above Spurs, whom they face in their next fixture on Sunday.
