United’s trophy hopes took another blow as they were knocked out of the FA Cup on penalties by Fulham. Amorim’s side trailed at halftime but equalized through Bruno Fernandes.

Despite pushing for a winner in extra time, United couldn’t break through. Two crucial saves from Bernd Leno sealed Fulham’s spot in the quarter-finals, ending United’s FA Cup campaign.

With only the Europa League left as a chance for silverware, Amorim remained committed to his long-term vision. He insisted that winning the league remains the club’s ultimate goal.

Wayne Rooney was quick to dismiss Amorim’s optimism, labeling it unrealistic. He argued that instead of aiming for the title, United should focus on simply improving their league position.

Rooney also pointed out that managers don’t get time to build long-term projects anymore. He suggested that Amorim should prioritize short-term success to keep his job.

United will now turn their attention to the Europa League last-16, where they face Real Sociedad in a crucial clash to keep their season alive.

In response, Amorim refused to step back from his claims. He admitted United are not title contenders yet but emphasized that winning the league should always be the club’s focus.
