The 39-year-old has confirmed that key members of his team, including Carlos Fernandes, Emanuel Ferro, Adelio Candido, Jorge Vital, and Paulo Barreira, will join him at Old Trafford.
Carlos Fernandes, Amorim’s long-time assistant, has been by his side since their time at Casa Pia and will now serve as assistant manager at United. At just 29, Fernandes is seen as one of the brightest coaching talents, with Amorim even comparing him to José Mourinho.
Adelio Candido and Emanuel Ferro, both first-team coaches, will also accompany Amorim. Candido, who is 28, has worked with Amorim since their time at Casa Pia and Braga, while Ferro, 45, brings experience and stability to the backroom team.
Jorge Vital, the 63-year-old goalkeeping coach, will be another familiar face to join Amorim’s staff. Vital specializes in distribution and has worked with Amorim since 2019, first at Braga and later at Sporting Lisbon.
Lastly, Paulo Barreira, a former Arsenal physio, will handle the physical performance of the squad. Barreira, who has experience in injury prevention, was appointed at Sporting Lisbon by Amorim in 2020.
Amorim’s strategic move to bring his trusted coaching staff is seen as a bold step in building a strong foundation at Manchester United.
