Initially part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching team, he stepped up after Ten Hag’s sacking, overseeing an unbeaten run that included victories over Leicester City and PAOK, and a draw against Chelsea.
However, after Ruben Amorim’s appointment, Van Nistelrooy was not retained as part of the new set-up.
Despite his success and fan support, Van Nistelrooy remained committed to Manchester United, rejecting offers from other clubs to stay.
His former PSV colleague, Andre Ooijer, confirmed that Van Nistelrooy’s decision was rooted in his love for the club. Now, Van Nistelrooy is reportedly in the running for the vacant managerial position at Coventry City.
In his farewell message to Manchester United fans, Van Nistelrooy expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent the club and wished them continued success.
