The Gunners, who narrowly missed the Premier League crown last season to Manchester City, have struggled to find consistent form, winning only five of their first ten league matches.

Arriving in Newcastle with the hope of securing a crucial victory, Arsenal found themselves on the back foot early, as Alexander Isak scored the only goal of the game with a clinical header in the 12th minute.

From there, Mikel Arteta’s side couldn’t respond, registering just one shot on target in a lackluster display.

The loss sees them slip further behind leaders Manchester City, who are five points clear with an opportunity to widen the gap in their upcoming match against Bournemouth.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the match, Saliba expressed disappointment but remained defiant. “We’re all a bit sad because we wanted to win today,” he admitted.

“We didn’t play the way we wanted, and they were good. But we’re focused on next week, and it’s not finished.”

Calling on his teammates to regroup, Saliba emphasized the importance of unity and resilience as they move forward.

“It was a great cross and finish from them, but we can always do better. We need to stick together,” he urged. “Last season, we went through a rough period like this, but we believe we’ll come back stronger.”

Saliba also acknowledged his own need for improvement, adding, “I have to be better than my last game. I wasn’t at my best today, but I’ll work to get back to my top level.”

Arsenal’s next test comes on Wednesday night in the Champions League when they face Inter Milan at the San Siro.

A win in Europe could restore the team’s confidence before their London derby against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next weekend, a match that promises to be intense as both teams vie for stability in the league.

Arsenal fans will be watching closely to see if their team can rise to the occasion and keep their title aspirations alive.
