William Saliba has been a rock at the heart of Arsenal’s defense this season, forming a dominant partnership with Gabriel Magalhães. With the Gunners boasting one of the best defensive records in Europe, it’s no surprise that Real Madrid have reportedly made the 23-year-old their top summer transfer target.
However, Arsenal appear confident of keeping their star defender. With his contract running until 2027, the Gunners would demand a record-breaking fee if Madrid were to make a move.
While training in Dubai, Saliba was filmed signing autographs when an Arsenal fan pleaded, “Please Saliba, never go Madrid!” The Frenchman responded only with a chuckle, offering no clear indication of his future plans.
Another fan urged him to help Arsenal win the Champions League, to which Saliba replied, “Inshallah.”
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has warned that Saliba and other key players like Bukayo Saka could start questioning the club’s ambitions if they fail to win silverware.
“After this season, they’ve got two years left on their contracts. Their agents will want to see ambition from the club. Arsenal need to bring in players that make them say, ‘These guys are serious.’”
With Arsenal still in the Champions League and pushing for a strong finish in the Premier League, the club must convince Saliba that the Emirates is where he belongs.
