Four-time African Player of the Year Samuel Eto’o has sent a heartfelt message to Ademola Lookman following the winger’s recent clash with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini.
The tension arose after Lookman took a penalty during Atalanta’s UEFA Champions League play-off against Club Brugge on Tuesday night.

Gasperini was unimpressed with his decision, publicly criticizing the Nigerian winger and labeling him as one of the worst penalty takers he has ever seen. Lookman responded, saying the comments hurt him deeply.

Eto’o, who now serves as president of the Cameroon Football Federation, took to Instagram to express his support for Lookman, reminding him of his talent and courage.
“My young brother, memory in football lasts 90 minutes, the time of a match, and then it’s on to the next. For us, you are and will always be our champion. Only those who have the courage to take the shot can miss. Thank you for your courage, great champion.”
Lookman’s performances have been key for Atalanta this season, and despite the controversy, he remains an important player for the Italian club.
