Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has expressed his desire to return to the club once he hangs up his boots.

The Spanish playmaker, who joined Arsenal from Malaga in 2012, quickly won over fans with his technical brilliance, versatility, and tireless work ethic.

Standing out for his small stature and immense talent, Cazorla played a pivotal role in Arsene Wenger’s midfield.

During his time at Arsenal, he won two FA Cups, earned the Player of the Season award in 2013, and was a key figure in the team. Additionally, he enjoyed international success with Spain, winning the Euros in 2008 and 2012.

However, injuries began to take their toll in his later years at the Emirates, leading to his departure in 2018.

Cazorla returned to Villarreal before joining Real Oviedo, his boyhood club, where he is currently winding down his career. With just half a season left on his contract, the 40-year-old is already thinking about his next steps in football.

When asked about a potential return to Arsenal, Cazorla didn’t hesitate. “Yes, why not? Arsenal is my home,” he said. “I love the club and the people. We’ll see in the future. I don’t know what role I’d take, but it would definitely be something in football because that’s my passion.”

Cazorla also reflected on his relationship with Mikel Arteta, who was his teammate at Arsenal.

Praising Arteta’s growth as a coach, he shared a fond memory: “I remember watching games with him, and he’d pause the match to talk tactics. I’d say, ‘Mikel, please, I just want to watch the game!’” He added, “We’re lucky to have him—he’s already one of the best coaches in the world.

Arteta, for his part, has spoken highly of Cazorla and hasn’t ruled out bringing him into Arsenal’s coaching setup.

Earlier this year, Arteta described Cazorla as a potential asset to his staff. “Depending on the role, I’d love to have him. His energy, knowledge, and passion for the game are incredible. He’d be a great addition,” Arteta said.

Though no official plans have been confirmed, Arsenal fans would undoubtedly welcome a reunion with the beloved Spanish maestro.
