Son Heung-min’s father, Son Woong-jung, has faced legal consequences after a South Korean court fined him approximately $2,200 for violating child welfare laws at his football academy.
This ruling came in response to disturbing allegations from parents, which claimed that their son had been hit with a corner flag and subjected to verbal abuse by academy coaches. Despite denying any wrongdoing, Son Woong-jung has issued an apology and stated his intention to review and improve the academy’s coaching methods to ensure a safer environment for young players.
The academy, launched in 2021 with significant financial backing from Son Heung-min, is now under increased scrutiny regarding its treatment of students and adherence to child welfare standards
