Former England striker Daniel Sturridge voiced his criticism of Joshua Zirkzee’s pass, while club legend Roy Keane defended the young forward, shifting responsibility to Maguire.

In a nail-biting Premier League clash, Manchester United came close to snatching all three points against league leaders Liverpool.

Harry Maguire’s late miss, however, became the center of post-match discussions. After receiving a pass from substitute Joshua Zirkzee, Maguire blasted the ball over the crossbar from close range, leaving fans with their heads in their hands.

Daniel Sturridge pointed out Zirkzee’s role in the missed opportunity, criticizing the quality of his pass.

“You’ve got all the time in the world to pull the ball back,” Sturridge said. “I’m not expecting a bobble into me if you’re in that position. It’s a three-yard pass.”

Roy Keane, a former United captain, dismissed Sturridge’s argument, emphasizing Maguire’s responsibility.

“You’re passing to a Premier League footballer, an international player,” Keane countered. “Expect a bobble into you. You’ve got to hit the target, Harry! No problem.”

Despite the disappointment, Keane praised United’s overall performance and resilience. “They showed plenty of fighting spirit. That’s what I asked for at the start of the game. They nearly won it at the end.”

The result saw United rise to 13th in the Premier League, while Liverpool missed the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table. Both teams now look ahead to their upcoming fixtures, with United seeking to build on this spirited display.
