With an impressive 10 points from three wins and a draw, Nigeria sits comfortably atop the group, holding a four-point lead over second-placed Benin, who faltered in their recent match against Rwanda.

Victory on Thursday would not only solidify Nigeria’s qualification but also establish them as group leaders going into the final match against Rwanda.

For Benin, currently at six points, a loss could severely jeopardize their qualification hopes. They face stiff competition, with Rwanda close behind on five points and Libya still in contention.

If Benin loses their last two games and Rwanda picks up at least two points, the Cheetahs’ qualification hopes will be dashed. Meanwhile, Libya, with a single point, remains a wild card, still capable of advancing if they win their remaining matches and Benin stumbles.

With England-based defender Semi Ajayi out due to injury, Coach Augustine Eguavoen is expected to rely on a defensive lineup that includes William Ekong and Calvin Bassey at center-back, supported by wing-backs Olaoluwa Aina and Bruno Onyemaechi.

Nigeria’s midfield options include Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, and Frank Onyeka, while the attacking selection features Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Victor Boniface, among others.

A win against Benin would make the final qualifier against Rwanda in Uyo merely a formality, with the Super Eagles playing solely for pride and Rwanda hoping to secure points to enhance their own qualification chances.
