The confirmation came through on Thursday after Libya secured a 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali, ensuring Nigeria’s advancement in the qualifiers.
Libya’s win left them at the bottom of the table with four points, a position that depends on Nigeria’s continued success to keep any slim qualification chances alive.
Rwanda, sitting just above with five points, also needs the Super Eagles to come through with a win against Benin Republic later on Thursday to maintain their own qualification hopes.
Currently leading their group with 10 points, the Super Eagles are assured of a spot in Morocco, regardless of the outcome of their final two matches. Nevertheless, the team will aim to finish as group leaders, setting their sights on maintaining a strong record.
In their previous encounter with Benin Republic on matchday one, Nigeria triumphed with a decisive 3-0 victory, with contributions from Ademola Lookman and star forward Victor Osimhen.
However, Benin managed a comeback with a 2-1 win over Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June, adding an edge to Thursday’s showdown.
