An English Football League (EFL) supercomputer has forecasted a bright future for Tranmere Rovers, potentially positioning them to replicate the success of Wrexham following news of a takeover by rapper A$AP Rocky. The American artist, known for his relationship with pop superstar Rihanna, is reportedly set to purchase the League Two club as part of an investment group led by Joe Tacopina, pending regulatory approval from the EFL.
The proposed deal involves acquiring an 80% stake in Tranmere for £15 million. A source close to the deal stated, “Rocky is tight with Joe and has committed to the Tranmere bid. Joe has been to Tranmere matches and Rocky has plans to go over too after the deal is completed. We may even see Rihanna watching League Two football.”
If the takeover is completed, Tranmere is poised for a significant financial boost, with hopes of following in the footsteps of Wrexham. The Welsh club, bought by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, has seen remarkable transformation, climbing from the fifth-tier National League to the third-tier League One, where they currently sit second in the promotion race to the Championship.
Tranmere currently occupies the 16th position in League Two after 11 games this season. However, a recent analysis by CSDB.gg’s supercomputer indicates a substantial shift in the club’s prospects. Prior to the takeover news, the supercomputer had projected Tranmere to finish 13th, with only a 3.1% chance of making the play-offs and less than 0.1% chance of winning the title.
With A$AP Rocky and his investment group involved, the supercomputer has dramatically upgraded Tranmere’s odds. They now have a 1.6% chance of clinching the title and a much-improved 10.5% chance of securing a play-off spot—an impressive 238.8% improvement. Additionally, if they reach the play-offs, Tranmere’s chances of winning promotion to League One have jumped to 11.1%, up from just 1.1%, marking a staggering 909.1% increase in their promotional prospects.
Tranmere Rovers may need three promotions to reach the lucrative Premier League, but with a potential overhaul fueled by new investment, their journey could be set to mirror the remarkable ascent of Wrexham.
