Liverpool’s ambitious attempt to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United has been swiftly rejected, with the Magpies standing firm on their £160 million valuation of the Swedish striker. The Reds reportedly proposed a cash offer alongside Darwin Nunez, whom they value at £60 million, in an effort to land one of the Premier League’s most in-form goal scorers.

Isak, who has netted 22 goals and provided five assists in 31 appearances this season, has drawn interest from top clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

Despite Newcastle’s insistence on keeping Isak, speculation surrounding Nunez’s future at Anfield continues to grow. The Uruguayan forward, who joined Liverpool from Benfica in a £70 million deal, has struggled for consistency, managing just six goals this season.

Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, has openly criticized Nunez’s performances, raising doubts about his long-term role in the squad. His January links to a Saudi Pro League move further fueled exit rumors, and his recent dip in form has only intensified speculation about an impending summer departure.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are focused on their upcoming Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on March 16. However, they could face a major setback if key players—including Isak, Anthony Gordon, and Lewis Hall—fail to recover from their respective injuries in time.

With Liverpool’s initial offer rejected, it remains to be seen whether they will return with an improved bid for Isak or shift their focus to other striking options in the transfer market.
