Tanzania’s head coach, Hemed Suleiman Ali, remains confident as his team heads into the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Despite being drawn into a challenging Group C alongside Nigeria and Tunisia, Ali insists his squad is ready for the challenge.
The Taifa Stars are making their fourth AFCON appearance, having never progressed past the group stage in previous attempts. However, Ali believes this tournament will be different.
“We are ready. We have seen our opponents. It’s a tough group, but it’s tough for everyone. There’s no such thing as an easy group,” he told Cafonline.

Ali emphasized the importance of preparation, acknowledging the strength of their rivals while maintaining confidence in his team’s ability to compete.
“If you qualify for this stage, you must prepare. We know who we are up against and how to approach them. The key is to prepare well and represent our people with pride.”
Tanzania will kick off their AFCON campaign against Nigeria at the Complexe Sportif de Fès on Tuesday, December 23.
