Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has dismissed speculation about his job security, attributing it to “fairytales and lies” from the media. With the team sitting 14th in the Premier League and winless in five matches across all competitions, questions about his future arose before Saturday’s clash against Brentford.
Despite the disappointing start, Ten Hag insists the club’s hierarchy remains supportive. “The noise is only coming from the media,” he stated at a press conference, emphasizing that discussions within the club are constructive and focused on improvement.
He acknowledged the team’s struggles, scoring just five goals in seven league games, but believes in the potential for success. “We have to climb a mountain, but I’m sure we will make it a success, just like we did in the last two seasons,” he added.
Injury issues persist, with Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire set to miss two weeks. However, Noussair Mazraoui has returned to training and is available for selection. Ten Hag stressed the need to improve scoring, stating, “We have to start scoring now.”
