Tottenham have reportedly agreed a €60 million (£50.2m) deal with Bayern Munich to sign Mathys Tel, according to L’Equipe.
The 19-year-old has attracted interest from multiple Premier League clubs after informing Bayern he wants to leave before the January transfer window closes.
Spurs acted swiftly, with sporting director Johan Lange traveling to Germany for direct negotiations. However, despite the agreed fee, Tel has yet to make a final decision on his next destination.
Chelsea previously made an approach, but Tel is reportedly hesitant to join due to intense competition in Enzo Maresca’s attack.
Manchester United have also shown interest but would need to sell Alejandro Garnacho first, with Chelsea and Napoli both in talks for the Argentine winger.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are focusing on Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins after their £60m bid was rejected.
Tel, who joined Bayern from Rennes in 2022 for £24.4m, has struggled for regular starts, making just three this season.
Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, confirmed that the French forward has asked to leave due to limited playing time.
“The playing time is not satisfactory for him, and that is understandable,” Eberl said, adding that Bayern will consider both loan and permanent transfer options.
With time running out in the transfer window, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will finalize the deal or if another club will swoop in for the highly-rated teenager.
