Tottenham Crisis Deepens as Postecoglou Admits He Needs Help to Turn Things Around

Tottenham’s struggles continued after a disappointing 2-2 draw at home against Wolves, leaving manager Ange Postecoglou searching for solutions.

Despite initially bouncing back from an early Wolves goal and edging closer to a much-needed victory, a late equaliser from Jorgen Strand-Larsen stunned Spurs fans and dampened their hopes of a turnaround.

The result sees Tottenham sitting 11th in the Premier League, managing just seven wins in 19 games, with pressure mounting on Postecoglou.

The Australian manager is now widely considered the frontrunner to become the next Premier League boss to lose his job. Reports suggest the two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool could be pivotal in deciding his future.

Postecoglou acknowledged the team’s struggles after the match, citing injuries and fatigue as significant challenges. He believes a brief New Year break could help recharge his squad, but also hinted at the need for external support.

“We’re asking a lot from a small core group of players,” he admitted. “The group needs a few days to recover physically and mentally with their families. I’ll keep pushing but will also look for help to get these players performing at their best.”

The frustration was compounded by Son Heung-min’s missed penalty, which could have sealed the win. Postecoglou reflected: “It’s a disappointing result.

After conceding early, I felt we controlled the game and looked dangerous going forward. We scored twice and missed the penalty, but we also had key moments to kill the game off in the second half.”

Tottenham’s growing injury list continues to plague them, with key players like Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Gugliemo Vicario, Ben Davies, and Richarlison unavailable. Destiny Udogie added to the woes, limping off early in the second half against Wolves.

Spurs face Newcastle on 4 January, followed by the crucial Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool in north London just four days later. For Postecoglou, those matches could define not only Tottenham’s season but his future at the club.
