Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has provided a positive update on Son Heung-min’s fitness, suggesting the Spurs captain is on track to return for their vital Premier League match against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Son, who missed the last three games due to a thigh injury, had been targeting this clash as his comeback, and his training session on Friday brought hope for fans.

Postecoglou shared that Son’s progress has been promising, and if he clears another training session on Saturday, he should be available to face Villa.

The timing of Son’s return is crucial for Tottenham, who have experienced mixed results in his absence. While they secured victories over AZ in the Europa League and Manchester City in the Carabao Cup, they faltered against Crystal Palace in the Premier League, slipping to eighth place.

Son, with three goals and two assists in six league appearances this season, remains an essential player, especially as Spurs aim to keep pace with fourth-place Aston Villa, whose impressive away record includes five wins and one draw across all competitions.

Despite the positive news on Son, Tottenham have additional injury concerns, particularly with center-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, who both exited Wednesday’s 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Manchester City with injuries.

Van de Ven, who appeared in tears after sustaining a hamstring injury, is likely to miss the Villa game, though Postecoglou reassured fans that it is not as severe as feared. Romero, however, remains a possibility for Sunday’s lineup if his condition improves.

Postecoglou’s injury updates and Son’s potential return offer Tottenham a welcome boost ahead of a challenging match as they look to improve their standing in the league.
