Diagnosed in August 2023 with a rare brain tumor, ependymoma, Oscar faced severe health issues in the months prior, including heart palpitations, right-sided weakness, headaches, and sickness.

Despite his symptoms, doctors initially misdiagnosed him with mental health problems and migraines.

After his diagnosis, Oscar underwent seven surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, but was eventually informed that only palliative care remained as an option.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to fund a treatment trial in France, aiming to raise £100,000. Generous donations came from West Ham players (£27,000), co-owner David Sullivan (£10,000), and Arsenal’s Declan Rice (£5,000).

Sadly, West Ham confirmed Oscar’s death on Friday, with all academy matches this weekend canceled in his honor.

A heartfelt message from former captain Mark Noble paid tribute to Oscar’s kind nature and talent, stating that he was not only a promising goalkeeper but also a wonderful young man loved by all.

The club expressed their deep sorrow and extended condolences to Oscar’s family, asking for privacy during this painful time.

West Ham promised to honor his memory and ensure his legacy lives on. Rest in peace, Oscar.
