Trent Alexander-Arnold’s goal celebration against West Ham on Sunday appeared to send a cryptic message about his Liverpool future.

The 26-year-old full-back, whose contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season, has yet to announce whether he will stay or leave.
Recent reports from Spain claim Alexander-Arnold has decided to join Real Madrid and has already informed Liverpool of his intentions.
This speculation comes as Liverpool faces a potential triple blow, with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also nearing the end of their contracts.
When asked about Alexander-Arnold’s situation, Liverpool manager Arne Slot remained optimistic. While some believe the defender’s chances of staying are slimmer compared to Salah and Van Dijk, Slot disagreed, citing the England international’s on-field performances and goal celebration.
Alexander-Arnold scored Liverpool’s fourth goal in their 5-0 thrashing of West Ham, punctuating it with a hand-to-ear gesture. This celebration could suggest he views recent media reports as mere noise.
“I don’t see it as negative at all,” Slot said when asked about the speculation. “He’s been playing exceptionally well, scored a brilliant goal, and his celebration says plenty. I don’t need to say more about it.
“I’m thrilled with Trent, just as I am with Mo and Virgil. For the outside world, maybe Trent gets more media attention, but I’m equally happy with all three of them right now.”
A looming concern for Liverpool is that from 1 January, Alexander-Arnold, Salah, and Van Dijk can negotiate with foreign clubs. However, Slot seemed unbothered.
“I have control over what happens on the pitch and in team meetings,” he said. “Beyond that, I can’t control their private lives. Still, I’m pleased with what all three contribute on the field.”
Salah, who netted his 17th Premier League goal of the season against West Ham, was again asked about his contract talks. The Egyptian star confirmed little progress has been made, but his focus remains on helping Liverpool succeed.
“We’re far from resolving anything,” Salah told Sky Sports. “I don’t want to fuel speculation, but nothing has moved forward. Right now, my focus is on helping the team win the Premier League.”
With uncertainty surrounding their star players’ futures, Liverpool fans may have to wait longer for clarity. For now, the trio remains key to the Reds’ title hopes.
