Thomas Tuchel, the new England manager, made headlines during his first press conference after refusing to answer a question in German. The former Chelsea and PSG boss addressed the media at St George’s Park following the announcement of his first England squad.

A German reporter from ARD asked Tuchel to reflect on his experience since taking charge and requested he respond in German. However, Tuchel politely declined after a quick glance at his media officer. He explained that he preferred to answer in English out of respect for the event and the attending reporters.

Tuchel expressed his excitement about managing the Three Lions and praised the positive atmosphere within the team. He acknowledged that communication is more challenging at the international level compared to club football but emphasized that he was eager to begin working with the players.

The decision to speak solely in English was well-received by England fans, who appreciated Tuchel’s respect for his new role. Many took to social media to praise the German coach for embracing his new environment.

Tuchel’s squad selection sparked debate, with notable inclusions such as Jordan Henderson and Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa. Rising talents like Cole Palmer and Jarell Quansah also earned spots in the squad.

When asked about the selection process, Tuchel revealed that the decisions were not easy and that the squad announcement marked just the first step toward the World Cup. He emphasized that every player called up would be considered for future tournaments, but those left out still have a chance to impress.
