The 30-year-old joined Southampton in early 2023 from KRC Genk, where he delivered an impressive 85 goals and 10 assists in 134 appearances.
However, his Premier League adventure hasn’t been successful. In his first six months at the club, Onuachu managed just 405 minutes of play and failed to find the back of the net.
Seeking regular football, he moved to Trabzonspor on loan for the 2023/24 season. During his time in Turkey, Onuachu thrived, scoring 17 goals and providing four assists in 25 matches.
Now, Turkish outlet 61saat reports that Besiktas has entered the race to sign the striker. The club’s presidential candidate, Serdal Adalı, has reportedly contacted Southampton officials to facilitate the deal, aiming to bring Onuachu back to Turkey.
Sources suggest the forward is open to the move, having already adapted to the Turkish Super Lig during his successful spell with Trabzonspor. Besiktas hopes to capitalize on this familiarity to bolster their attack.
