Van de Ven, 23, appeared in distress after a suspected hamstring issue while attempting to intercept City’s winger Savinho.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou noted that it’s still early to assess the extent, but Van de Ven has reassured fans on social media that he expects to return soon.
The injury came at a crucial point in the match, with Van de Ven visibly emotional as he left the field. Destiny Udogie stepped in for the remainder of the game, while Radu Dragusin shifted to central defense alongside Cristian Romero.
Following the win, Postecoglou confirmed that Van de Ven’s status is uncertain for the weekend clash with Aston Villa, with Dragusin likely filling his role if needed.
Spurs are also hopeful for the return of Son Heung-min, who has been sidelined for three games but could make his comeback against Villa.
