Bayer Leverkusen’s managing director, Simon Rolfes, has confirmed that Victor Boniface’s proposed switch to Saudi club Al Nassr has officially collapsed.

A Deal That Never Happened

Al Nassr had reached an agreement with Leverkusen earlier this week to secure the Nigerian forward’s signature. The deal, valued at €60 million, would have been historic, making Boniface the highest-paid Nigerian footballer of all time.

However, in a surprising U-turn on Wednesday, the Saudi club decided to pull out of the agreement and instead signed Aston Villa’s Colombian striker, Jhon Duran.

Leverkusen Relieved as Boniface Stays

Following the breakdown of the transfer, Rolfes expressed confidence that Boniface would remain at the club, stating:

“There have been talks, but we are happy that he will be training with us today. I assume that he will stay.”

Despite the transfer drama, Boniface remains committed to Leverkusen. “He feels comfortable here, his attitude towards the club is unchanged,” Rolfes added.

What’s Next for Boniface?

With the Saudi deal off the table, Boniface will shift his focus back to Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga campaign. Having been a key figure for the club, his presence remains crucial as they continue their push for silverware.

While the door to a lucrative move may still be open in the future, for now, Boniface will continue to shine in Germany, proving why he was so highly sought after in the first place.
