Sparta Prague striker Victor Olatunji has revealed his ambition to play for the Super Eagles, calling it a dream come true. He’s confident that his current form and experience make him ready to contribute to the team under new coach Eric Chelle.
This season, Olatunji has been in great form for Sparta Prague, scoring four goals and providing two assists in 14 UEFA Champions League appearances, including qualifiers. His performances against high-profile clubs like Inter Milan, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, and Bayer Leverkusen have boosted his self-belief as a player.
At 25, the striker has also netted six goals in 19 Czech Chance Liga matches, helping his team to a third-place finish. Speaking from his base in the Czech Republic, Olatunji expressed his eagerness to represent Nigeria, especially now that he’s in such strong form.
Olatunji is determined to prove himself if called up for the Super Eagles, particularly ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe. He acknowledged that the team is filled with talented forwards but believes his skills and Champions League experience will bring something extra to the squad.
“I know I have the ability to shine in the Super Eagles jersey, though I’m not pushing myself onto the team,” he said. “I just feel ready to help the Super Eagles reach new heights. I believe the coach has a plan, and if I’m given the opportunity, I’ll do my best to make Nigerians proud.”
He also feels that his experience with the Czech league champions, Sparta Prague, has prepared him for the challenge. “I’ve helped my team to both league and cup titles, and I’m confident I can contribute at the international level. My Champions League exposure will only add value to the team,” Olatunji added. “The Super Eagles have many talented forwards, but I believe I can help elevate them even further.”
