Victor Osimhen’s passion for Chelsea has been revealed by Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong, igniting rumors about a potential move to Stamford Bridge.

Osimhen, who played a pivotal role in Napoli’s 2023 Serie A triumph with 26 league goals, signed a lucrative contract that ensured Napoli could command a significant transfer fee in the future.

However, the club’s instability this season has cooled interest from major suitors, with new Napoli manager Antonio Conte instead pursuing Romelu Lukaku.

Despite being previously linked to Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain, Troost-Ekong believes Osimhen has his heart set on the Blues.

“I can tell you he’s a Chelsea fan, I can confirm that,” Troost-Ekong told talkSPORT. “He’s an incredible teammate. In front of goal, he’s relentless and greedy, but off the pitch, he’s a vocal leader and a real inspiration in the locker room. It’s only a matter of time before he wears the captain’s armband.”

Troost-Ekong reminisced about Osimhen’s early days with the national team in 2019, joining as an understudy to Odion Ighalo. “Even during training, we were blown away by his determination. He plays every game like it’s his last, chasing every ball and turning half-chances into goals. He’s one of the most intimidating strikers for defenders.”

The Super Eagles captain also shared high praise for Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman, whose stellar form has made him a standout in Serie A. Lookman has scored 11 goals in 12 matches, propelling Atalanta into an unlikely title race.

“He’s been sensational this season, and at AFCON, he proved why he’s arguably our best player and Africa’s finest right now,” said Troost-Ekong.

Troost-Ekong expressed confidence that Lookman could win the African Player of the Year award during the December 16 ceremony.

He also highlighted Lookman’s remarkable Europa League final hat trick and the subsequent interest from top clubs.

“Atalanta held on to him, but if I were a big club, I’d be doing everything to sign him. He’s professional, humble, and absolutely on fire. I’m a huge fan,” concluded Troost-Ekong.

Both Osimhen and Lookman are proving themselves as Nigerian stars ready to shine on the world stage.
