Wes Brown Backs Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford to Rediscover Their Form at Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford have faced significant criticism for their performances this season, but former Manchester United player Wes Brown remains optimistic about their potential to bounce back.

The Red Devils have had a challenging start to the campaign, currently sitting in 12th place in the Premier League, despite a morale-boosting win over Brentford in their last match.

As Erik ten Hag’s side gears up to face Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday, they will have to do so without captain Fernandes, who is serving a suspension after receiving a red card against Porto in their previous European fixture. This season has been particularly difficult for the Portuguese midfielder, who has yet to score in 12 appearances and has also been sent off in a Premier League match against Tottenham.

Despite these challenges, Brown believes that Fernandes has shown signs of his best form, particularly in the recent victory over Brentford. “With Bruno Fernandes, I feel the positives outweigh the negatives,” Brown commented during an interview with Instant Casinos. “I’m not overly concerned about the red cards; he’s that type of player. I’ve had players like him on my teams before, and showing passion on the pitch isn’t a bad thing.”

Brown praised Fernandes for his leadership and skill, referencing a notable assist he provided for Rasmus Hojlund’s second goal against Brentford. “He can pick up assists and score goals; it was definitely one of his better performances this season. He leads by example and is a good club captain,” he stated.

Rashford, on the other hand, has struggled to find the back of the net, managing just one goal in eight Premier League games this season. Nonetheless, Brown remains hopeful. “I think Marcus Rashford played really well on Saturday. He and Alejandro Garnacho were the standout players for me,” he noted. Brown believes that Rashford’s hard work will pay off, emphasizing the importance of regaining confidence.

“He’s an amazing talent when he’s in full flow, and I believe he’ll return to those levels,” Brown added. The former United defender suggested that a few goals could reignite Rashford’s confidence, which is crucial for a player of his caliber.

Both Fernandes and Rashford received praise from manager Erik ten Hag for their contributions to the goals scored against Brentford. Ten Hag remarked, “The cross from Rashy was brilliant, and Garnacho finished it superbly. For the second goal, the flick from Bruno and the finish from Rasmus were beautiful. We’re thrilled to have Rasmus back as we missed his goals.”

As Manchester United prepares for their Europa League match, both Fernandes and Rashford will look to build on their recent performances and silence critics with strong showings.
