Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has taken a swipe at his Libyan counterpart, Murad Al Wuheeshi, for employing questionable tactics during their match on Friday, according to Soccernet.ng.

Libya, considered the underdogs, was just four minutes away from securing a memorable away point at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo when Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored late in the game, dashing their hopes.

Ranked 82 places below Nigeria in the FIFA standings, the Mediterranean Knights effectively held off the Super Eagles for 86 minutes using a defensive strategy and coordinated time-wasting tactics. Al Wuheeshi was particularly notorious for slowing the game down, requiring medical attention every time he touched the ball.

However, the tide turned when Dele-Bashiru broke the deadlock in the 86th minute. With Libya now scrambling for an equaliser, Nwabali took his time with every catch.

After the match, the Chippa United goalkeeper took to social media to mock Al Wuheeshi, posting, “Who come wise pass,” suggesting that what may have seemed like wisdom from his Libyan opponent ended in foolishness.

Nigeria and Libya are set to face off again on Tuesday in Benghazi for the fourth matchday of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The Super Eagles lead Group D with seven points, while Libya sits at the bottom with just one point from three matches. If Nigeria defeats Libya and Rwanda fails to beat Benin on the same day, they will secure their spot in Morocco 2025 with two games to spare.ia
