Owen Hargreaves has urged Arsenal to bring in three experienced players if they hope to surpass Liverpool and win the Premier League title.

Liverpool, led by Arne Slot, currently hold a seven-point lead over Chelsea after a dominant 3-1 comeback victory against Leicester City at Anfield on Boxing Day. Earlier, Chelsea suffered a crushing 2-1 loss to Fulham despite leading at halftime at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal can leapfrog Chelsea and narrow Liverpool’s lead to six points with a win against Ipswich Town on Friday. However, Hargreaves doubts that Arsenal or Chelsea have the experience to dethrone Liverpool this season.
After Liverpool’s Boxing Day win, Hargreaves told Premier League Productions: “It’s fascinating when you hear Andy Robertson mention how the manager tweaks tactics for every game.
People often box a manager into a specific style, but Liverpool adapt based on the situation. That versatility is why they’re so tough to beat.”
Hargreaves praised Liverpool’s seasoned core of Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, and Mohamed Salah, who have consistently delivered over the years. “Arsenal are so close, but the missing piece is experience.
They need three or four players like Liverpool’s seasoned stars to go all the way. If they get them, they’ll win the league. Chelsea, on the other hand, are talented but too young—they might be contenders in two years,” he added.
Michael Owen echoed Hargreaves’ sentiments, naming Arsenal as Liverpool’s sole credible challenger after Chelsea’s defeat and Manchester City’s 14-point gap following their draw with Everton. “Liverpool’s dressing room must be buzzing,” Owen said. “
They’re saying they’re focused on themselves, and rightly so, but everything around them is falling apart. Chelsea lost, City dropped points again—they’re likely out of it.
“For me, Arsenal are the only threat. Chelsea lack experience, Forest can’t sustain their form, Newcastle are too far back, and Bournemouth aren’t contenders. Liverpool are only at risk of beating themselves. Unless they implode, this title is theirs to lose.”
