Why Casemiro Leaving Manchester United for Saudi Arabia Could Be the Perfect Move

Joe Cole, the former England and Chelsea star, believes Casemiro’s potential move from Manchester United to Saudi Arabia “makes sense.”

The Brazilian midfielder has struggled to establish himself under new United boss Ruben Amorim and seems set for a January exit.

Casemiro made a stunning impact in his debut season at Old Trafford after his £70 million transfer from Real Madrid in 2022, scoring seven goals in 51 appearances.

However, his form has dipped since then, with the 32-year-old managing only four starts across all competitions since Amorim took over in November.

Reports suggest Casemiro is eager to leave and has even agreed to a lucrative deal with a Saudi Pro League club.

Cristiano Ronaldo, now at Al-Nassr, is reportedly lobbying to bring his former Real Madrid teammate to the Middle East.

With 18 months left on his current contract—and an option for United to extend it by a year—Casemiro appears to no longer be part of the club’s future plans.

Speaking on The Dressing Room podcast, Joe Cole emphasized the appeal of Saudi Arabia for a player of Casemiro’s stature:

“It makes sense. They’re bringing in top players, and Casemiro is one of them. It doesn’t look like he fits into Amorim’s plans at United.”

Former West Ham striker Carlton Cole, who appeared on the same podcast, agreed that a move to the Saudi Pro League could offer Casemiro the chance to “revive” his career.

“The Saudi Pro League is building something sustainable,” Carlton Cole said. “They’re bringing in the right players to grow the league. You’ve got Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema—it’s an exciting challenge for someone like Casemiro.”

Carlton Cole added that while financial incentives are undeniable, the move could also provide Casemiro with a fresh start.

“His first season at United was unbelievable, but now age is catching up. He’s been a bit-part player this season.

A move to Saudi Arabia could be the perfect way for him to shine again, take on a new challenge, and be celebrated as the world-class player he is.”

With stars like Ronaldo and Benzema already making their mark in Saudi Arabia, the league continues to grow in prominence, offering veterans like Casemiro an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy.
