Fans have uncovered a clever moment during Wolves’ 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday when Hwang Hee-chan helped goalkeeper Jose Sa save a penalty from Spurs star Son Heung-min.

The drama unfolded at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a fiercely contested Premier League clash. Hwang opened the scoring for Wolves before Spurs turned the game around with goals from Rodrigo Bentancur and Brennan Johnson.

However, Jorgen Strand Larsen’s late equalizer in the 87th minute earned Wolves a hard-fought point under manager Vitor Pereira.

The game could have taken a different turn in the 43rd minute when Tottenham was awarded a penalty. Fans noticed Hwang discreetly signaling to Sa the direction of Son’s shot.

From a distance, Hwang pointed to Sa’s right, despite Spurs defender Radu Dragusin attempting to block the view. Trusting his teammate, the Portuguese keeper dived right and successfully denied Son, who also happens to be Hwang’s international teammate.

The incident quickly went viral on social media, sparking a mix of humor and surprise among football fans. A Reddit user, @coldnorth11, joked, “Hwang can probably never step foot on Korean soil again.”

Another fan, @Affectionate-Car-145, quipped, “Greatest betrayal since Judas,” while @Big-Bad-5405 made a lighthearted reference, saying, “Hwang will be invited to the next real-life Squid Game.”

Some fans highlighted the history between the two players. One supporter, @Visual_Fox5292, noted that Hwang had previously asked Son to take a crucial penalty during the Asian Games semi-finals.

Another, @justk4y, remarked, “The next national team training is gonna be interesting.”

Wolves now turn their focus to Monday’s fixture against Nottingham Forest at Molineux, where they’ll look to build on this dramatic result.
