Wolves manager Vitor Pereira has firmly dismissed rumors of Matheus Cunha leaving the club, emphasizing that the 25-year-old striker is not for sale.
Amid growing interest from Premier League clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Nottingham Forest, Pereira assured fans that Cunha remains committed to helping Wolves this season.
Cunha has been in impressive form, scoring 10 goals so far in the league, following up on his 12-goal tally from last season.
Despite Wolves’ struggles in the table, the Brazilian international has attracted significant attention due to his performances.
When asked about transfer interest, Pereira stated at a Friday press conference: “He’s my player, and he’s not for sale. He’s committed to us and has never expressed a desire to leave.”
Speculation around Cunha’s future intensified after Wolves’ 3-1 loss to Chelsea on Monday. During the game, Pereira was visibly upset with Cunha’s body language and addressed it with the player.
However, the manager has since clarified the situation, saying: “We had a conversation, it’s sorted. He knows what I expect from him and is ready to help the team.”
While Pereira is adamant about keeping Cunha, he is keen on strengthening the squad during the transfer window, expressing the need for two new signings. “The club is working on it,” he said. “Time is running out, but I hope we can secure the players we need.”
Wolves currently sit just above the relegation zone on goal difference, having lost their last three Premier League matches. However, Pereira remains optimistic about turning the season around.
“I believe in my players and our work,” he said. “It’s a tough league, but we’ll improve. It’s crucial to stay confident and stick to our plan.”
Wolves face a challenging task this Saturday as they prepare to host Arsenal at 3 p.m., with hopes of a much-needed positive result.
