Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu commended his players’ resilience after they clinched a spot in the final of the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Togo.

Despite opening with a 1-0 loss to Burkina Faso, Nigeria’s U-20 team recovered with strong wins over Cote d’Ivoire and Niger Republic, securing their qualification for the U-20 AFCON set to be held in South Africa next year.
Praising his team, Zubairu remarked, “The boys showed real character to bounce back and win. They fought hard just as they did against Cote d’Ivoire.” Reflecting on the tournament’s start, he added, “Losing to Burkina Faso was disappointing, but we’ve proven our strength since then.”
The Flying Eagles will face Ghana in the WAFU B U-20 Championship final on Wednesday in Lome.
