Nigeria’s Flamingos made a perfect start to their 2026 WAFU B U17 Girls’ Cup campaign with a commanding 5-0 victory over Niger on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
The match was played at the Yamoussoukro Stadium in Côte d’Ivoire, with Nigeria controlling proceedings from the opening whistle and producing an impressive attacking display.
Captain Chidi Harmony opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Awawu Bashiru doubled Nigeria’s advantage nine minutes before half-time.
The Flamingos continued to dominate after the break but had to wait until the closing stages to add to their tally.
Ohunene Sunday made it 3-0 in the 83rd minute before Mary Dunstan added a fourth just a minute later.
Ayomide Rotimi completed the rout in the fourth minute of stoppage time, sealing a convincing 5-0 victory for Nigeria.
