Recent reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle, has indicated that Cristian Romero could be the subject of major transfer interest ahead of the summer window despite recently extending his contract with Tottenham Hotspur until 2027.
The Argentine centre-back, who captains Spurs, signed a new long-term deal in August 2025. However, several top European clubs are reportedly monitoring his situation as Tottenham prepare for a potential squad overhaul at the end of the season.

Romero began his professional career with Club Atlético Belgrano in 2016 before rising through European football to become one of the Premier League’s most respected defenders. Alongside his club responsibilities, he remains a key figure for the Argentina national football team.
Earlier this year, Romero publicly voiced frustration after a difficult Premier League result, criticizing leadership around the club and suggesting accountability had been lacking during challenging periods for Spurs.
