Antoine Griezmann has confirmed that he will not be moving to Major League Soccer for now, putting an end to speculation linking him with a transfer to Orlando City.
The update was revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who shared the forward’s stance on his official X account.
Earlier reports by softfootball in late February suggested that Orlando City were in advanced negotiations to sign the World Cup winner as they looked to fill an open Designated Player slot.
The French international has emphasized that he remains happy at Atlético Madrid and is fully focused on helping the club compete for silverware this season. Griezmann highlighted his commitment to the team’s ongoing campaigns in both the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey.

At 34, Griezmann continues to play a vital role for Atlético, where he is the club’s all-time leading scorer since returning from Barcelona in 2021.
His influence has been particularly important during the club’s recent surge in form, including an impressive 5–2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League round of 16 first leg, as well as progression to the Copa del Rey final.
However, the MLS club are prepared to wait until the June transfer window if a deal is not finalized amid Atlético’s reluctance to lose such an influential player and Griezmann’s own desire to continue competing at the highest level have paused those discussions.
His decision reflects a strong competitive drive, choosing a potential trophy push with Atlético over a lucrative move to the United States.
